Getting ready for a networking event can feel like preparing for a sports game! You polish your resume, make sure your outfit looks professional, and you review potential interview questions. But what about your makeup?
Some advisers might suggests wearing minimal makeup, while others recommend wearing your signature lipcolor, whether that’s red or a nude lipstick. Creative industries offer more flexibility when it comes to wearing bold lip colors and a casual attire.

Recently, I attended FindSpark’s Hustle Summit networking event in NYC. Hustle Summit is an event where companies from various industries such as: finance, marketing, and online publications interview and network with potential new hires and interns. Hustle Summit provides a great opportunity to network with people, who may eventually become your colleagues, friends, or mentors.
Before attending this event, I made the decision that I wasn’t going to purchase any makeup or clothes. After putting together a few outfit options, I decided to wear a black fit and flare dress from NY & Co. and black wedge heels. Since we’re experiencing a heat wave here in NY, I packed a pair of comfortable sandals to switch into once, I finished meeting with employers. As the temperature continued to rise throughout the city, I decided to forgo my plans of wearing cream foundation; instead I applied my favorite pressed powder foundation from Cover FX. Cover FX product line does not contains parabens, talc, or gluten. This richly pigmented foundation goes on smoothly, and provides a great deal of coverage. Next I coated my lashes with my favorite mascara L’oreal Lash Paradise. When it came to my lipcolor, I kept it simply with Pixi Beauty hydrating Shea Butter Lip Balm in Natural Rose.

My go to lip color is a light pink from Maybelline’s 24 hour color. I’m not sure what it’s called, but it’s the perfect demure pink. Sounds like your makeup was spot on for your event!

I usually go for very natural makeup. Depending if it is a night or day event I usually just do powder because I don’t know if my makeup will melt off lol.

Network is such a great opportunity to make connections, feeling confortable with how you are looking is a must. I use moderate makeup all the time, it makes me feel ready and not overly done! Nice post

Wow! That looks like an amazing event and I love your tips. I started using a bit of make up recently and I do wear it for professional occasions. Thank you!

My go-to is always nudes and some pinks and browns. I like to keep it clean and simple and not feel like I have to go touch up every few minutes,

When I have to attend a work event, I don’t wear heavy or flashy makeup. I prefer something that looks polished but low-key. I want the attention to be on my skills not my makeup. It’s also easier to maintain. No melting eyeliner to wipe off!
