Fashion Forecast: The Chronic Addiction to Fashion Series

Yes, Summer is almost over! But, if you found yourself on the Bandwagon of Passing Trends this Summer, you’re probably feeling less than prepared for Fall Fashion. Before you rush off on a shopping haul, see how to transform your already owned summer pieces into classic and on trend Fall Fashion.

I’m excited to share with you these simple transformation style techniques. With literally a few basic steps, you can keep wearing your warm weather apparel even after the temperatures drop without freezing your buns off (or looking like a complete idiot).

Today, we’ll be giving your everyday Summer items a makeover. From shorts and tank dresses to the “here and now” trending items like off the shoulder tops and dresses, crop tops and even chokers. So, let’s get started.

SUMMER ITEM: Denim Shorts

How to Do It:

Step 1. Lengthen the sleeves of your top with a classic buttoned down shirt.

Step 2. Add leggings for both style and warmth.

Step 3. Boots: Both the color and style should reflect the Fall season. Rich colors like Wine (shown here), Chocolate Brown, Gray, and of course Black are ideal.

Step 4. Top off your look with a hat and scarf, if you’d like.

SUMMER ITEM: Crop Top and Choker

How to Do It:

If you were among the brave hearts rocking a crop top this Summer, I say ‘Rock On!’

Step 1. Add a bodysuit, like this lace trimmed velvet number from River Island, underneath the crop top.

Step 2. Pair with a suede A-line mini skirt,

Step 3. Bomber jackets are getting much love this season. Throw it on for added layers or style.

Step 4. Add Mid-calf Boots.

Step 5. Finish the look with a velvet Choker (another Summer trending piece).

Step 6. Don’t forget the Fringe Crossbody bag.

Everything about this look is trendy and Fall ready!

SUMMER ITEM: Cargo Pants

How to Do It: Cargo Pants are quite versatile. In Summer you rock a graphic tee and in Fall…you go with Flannel. Flannel saw its return last year with the 90s reboot. And, it’s showing staying power in the ‘hipster chic’ style.

Step 1. Achieve the look by adding a suede vest and a shoulder bag.

Step 2. Don’t forget the Sunnies because yes, the Sun still shines in the Fall.

Step 3. Booties. The ankle strapped booties are just the right height for cargo pants. Just be sure that you either where no socks at all or that they don’t show.

SUMMER ITEM: Slip Dress

How to Do It:

Step 1. By simply adding a shirt dress under (or over) your slip dress you’ve achieved sophisticated layering.

You can stop here and throw on these suede over the knee boots.

Step 2. Optional. For added layers and a style upgrade add mesh tights and a suede vest.

Step 3. A mini shoulder bag will do just fine with this Fall Fashion-ready look.

SUMMER ITEM: Off the shoulder dress

How to Do It:    The ‘off the shoulder’ style was dubbed “cold shoulders” by some. That being said, I don’t see it going anywhere even with the arrival of cooler temperatures. So, get ready to invest in a timeless piece.

Step 1. Add a lightweight Duster. Simply put, a duster is a trench coat style sweater or jacket without the buttons. It’s just what you need to accomplish a polished look.

Step 2. Don’t be afraid to pair booties with a Summer dress. It totally works when done right – like this tiger print Christian Louboutin.

Step 3. Add a matching cuff bracelet, clutch and gold stud earrings and you’ll be the envied Fashionista in the room.

SUMMER ITEM: Tank Dress

How to Do It:  Speaking of a tank dress with booties, I’m showing you how a Duster adds that extra flair and style. This particular Chambray Duster is from Gwynnie Bee – a premiere subscription-based online clothing service.  The tote bag, a necessary accessory for Fall is courtesy of Aldo, last season. Add slouchy ankle boots and jewelry, then throw DUST TO SUMMER.

I hope these tips have you excited for Fall Fashion. I know I am! Stay tuned for more Fashion News and Styling Tips on “The Chronic Addiction to Fashion Series.”

I love almost all the boots you’ve chosen to showcase, they would all be going straight in my basket 🙂 it’s interesting to see what could be in fashion later this year, it looks like some items in my wardrobe can be recycled, happy days!

Perfect! Don’t you just love when you can recycle your clothes? I just looked at some boots in my closet that I’m gearing up to wear.

I think you’re right. It can be tricky to transition between seasons, especially with drastic changes in temperature. I’m happy that enjoyed the looks.
