Full Figured Fashion Week (FFFWeek), also known as the Oscars of the plus size industry held its 8th season in New York City from June 11-17, 2017. Full Figured Fashion Week target audience for FFFWeek® is “plus size fashionistas who not only enjoy all things related to fashion, but who have found it difficult to locate quality, fashionable clothing and products developed specifically for the plus size consumer,” http://fffweek.com.
The mission of FFFWeek is to empower plus size women through fashion, but also to celebrate the men and women who have done amazing things in the plus size industry. With 67% of the American population being plus size (according to CDC in 2012), it is important to showcase designers that are innovative and creating fashion for the size 14 and up. With Fit for Me as the head sponsor, FFFWeek continues to deliver powerful and beautiful fashion and fashion icons.
This year events included a art festival, all white boat cruise around the hudson, expo, workshop and even a danceathon. This event was not only about fashion but about a message of giving to others who need it most. In this spirit of giving FFFweek partnered with Bottomless Closet, a non profit program for disadvantaged women seeking to secure jobs, to raise donation of plus size clothing for women. With all this going on there was still enough time for the main reason we were here… The fashion!!!
There were two fashion shows: the Bae Walk a menswear showcase (from plus size male designers and models) and the second was a runway showcase, and awards ceremony. Here are some photos of designers, retailers and some of this year Award winners (see above).
