Vacation: Traveling Alone or With Your Family On A Budget

Summer is just right around the corner and there are lots of events happening outside of your state. If you live in NYC and you want to explore the other states. Then listen up on how you can travel on budget.

Traveling is not just checking prices on the internet to see who has a better deal on a vacation package or last minute deals that includes children free under 11.  Now I know you’re probably wondering what the $&8@% is wrong with this person. In this day and age, we are looking for affordable things and ways to save more for RETIREMENT, but over the spring I was able to travel to a few places that were affordable AND comfortable. These places were Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, Toronto, and Atlanta (the lovely A), and they were all done by (just under 85.00 dollars). Yes, just under $85.00!

The bus ride to Atlanta was 21hrs and Toronto was 10hrs, both leaving from New York City 34th Street. I was able to explore each place by the station stops we made and the view from my window.  The leg room was great (just an FYI to fellow readers). The buses had free wifi, chargers for each customer, and the ability to control your reading light and air.  To top it off it’s free for kids, and a great way for your children to explore the world like young Dora and Diego the Explorers.

If you book your trip to Canada for December, 2018 to enjoy the ski slope in Vancouver, you might want to make your reservation asap to get a good deal.  Why should you book NOW?  Prices change, and sometimes you get your ticket for less than $14.00 depending on where you’re going and when you’re booking your trip.

If you live in the New York City area, you and your loved ones will be able to travel to 38 different states with megabus.  If you’re retired this is the best way to get more out of your retirement funds.   Who wants to pay $300-$400 for a round trip plane ticket to Atlanta?  Not me!

FYI, Megabus just added one more state, Florida. Woohoo!!! So, for those of you who are planning to go to Carnival in Miami from October, 05 – 08, 2018, this is the best way to travel (especially for my younger readers in college).

these are amazing tips for saving! I live in Europe and we have a few low cost airlines to travel and we always search for affordable accomodation, but we like to have some comfort too, so booking in advance is our main rule! Just as an example, we already book in February our tickets for Argenitna in DECEMBER! definitely the only way to have affordable tickets for Christmas season.

Megabus sounds like a great idea if you ask me. I would love to stay in New York for a short while then come from there down to Florida. Woo, my dream trip, simple as that!

It’s interesting you are promoting bus tickets. It seems like most people have forgotten how to take a bus trip, they’ll just buy a plane ticket. Personally, I prefer a bus ride because it allows you to explore, see, and breathe all the different places in between your home and your destination. You see so much more!

I’ve never traveled by bus cross country! How do you get around when you get to your destination. Are the bus stops normally in the center of town? I’ll keep this in mind instead of trains… I don’t mind a plane ride.

I have never traveled long distance by bus, but the fact that the prices are so great AND you get wifi and electric are huge wins. I may have to book a trip now 🙂

I’ve walked passed the boarding area for Megabus in Manhattan and it looks to be very popular way to get places. With the cost tickets to fly and how rude the airlines can be. Plus here in the Midwest train service is slow and undependable. Don’t blame people for looking to alternatives. Glad Megabus is there to provide people with an affordable option to planes and trains.
